 How Long Does The Program Take?
The program is conducted through evening classes, over the course of five meetings. These sessions will help determine your readiness to quit. All aspects of the program will be discussed, your will get a chance to meet the staff, receive handouts and class material and begin to prepare mentally, physically and emotionally to set a date to quit.
In these classes you will interact with the staff, determine the components in which you wish to participate and begin taking steps toward a Tobacco-Free life.
Throughout this program you can call "Quitline" at 1-800-934-4840 or visit www.standonline.org 24 hours a day. Group therapy will provide support of peers going through the process as well as information and inspiration through group interaction.
The program will reinforce coping techniques and emphasize relapse prevention. By this time, many have been through withdrawal and find it easier to manage themselves and build on their-experience and stay Tobacco-Free.
 What Makes Our Program Different?
The combination of behavioral modification techniques and availability of medication therapy offers a comprehensive program that improves your chances of success. Utilizing one approach alone is not as successful as combining approaches.
 What About Medications?
There are a number of medications that will assist you through the quitting process. If you do not have a physician to prescribe these, we can assist you in that process.
 What If I Stop, But Start Smoking Again Later?
This can happen in any program. For some people it can take four or five times to learn how to quit permanently. Because we recognize this, once you enroll and complete a program, you can return as needed at no cost. This does not include the cost for continued medication.
 Will I Gain Weight?
Approximately 25 percent of people who stop tobacco use will gain weight. Some of this weight gain may be temporary. Weight gains issues are addressed in class, and techniques are discussed to minimize weight gain. When considering the health risks associated with weight gain, as opposed to using tobacco products, it is far healthier to gain a few pounds that to continue tobacco use.
 How Do I Begin?
There are many ways to quit. If you have made the commitment to quit, and you are having trouble quitting on your own, then consider the KMC "Tobacco-Free For Life" program. This program offers a variety of approaches, continued ongoing support and up-to-date information and resources.
